Rated 5 out of 5 by This was a good fit for what I needed in a riding mower. I had to have a machine that fit my yard and three gates. The ZT 34 worked just fine. I had checked on several other models but came back to this one for what it did for me. I did not have to move gate post or build bigger gates. Mowing time down 50%. Learning to drive was really fun and I look forward to mowing . A strong well built machine.Highpockets June 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best mower I have owned I have owned the Gravely Z42 Mower for 3 months and just love the way it handles. I went from a riding mower to the zero turn and will not go back. I researched several brands before settling on the Gravely Z42 and am very pleased with my purchase. I recommend this to anyone looking at purchasing a new mower. June 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product! I purchased this the ZT34 for a couple of very good reasons. Number one being I've been dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis for 7 years and riding my conventional mower was a bad experience. Shopping for my first ZTR was something I took my time with, and I always kept coming back to Gravely.Which brings me to my second reason for puchasing the ZT34. By far and away its got absolutely the best features and ease of use design of the many mowers I looked at and researched. A few but not all are:Foot operated deck lift with deck height adjustment that works as advertised...Large (for me# fuel tank...Dependable B&S engine with spin on oil filter...I've got a great cut with the twin blades #had the dealer install the mulching kit)...and in South Louisiana St. Augustine grass really grows. Thanks Gravely! Rated 5 out of 5 by mows a great looking lawn I have been using a 10 yr old ZTR mower and when I moved up to my new Gravely ZTR with the three blade deck I got compliments from neighbors as to how nice the lawn looked. This mower is a really good buy. June 8, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best mower I've ever used I had never heard of a Gravely and was about to buy another blue color zero turn when a friend told me to check out a Gravely. After I gave it a test ride I was sold. Since then I have had two other friends buy a Gravely and have had neighbors ask if I would be willing to mow their lawn. June 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Product!! This is my first zero turn and I absolutely cant wait to mow my yard! I have only cut 3 times and I cant wait to hit 300. I used to put off mowing because I hated having to weed eat so much and get out the push mower to get places that the riding mower couldnt. Now, with the Gravely, I can leave the push mower in the shed and just weed eat the areas that it doesnt reach. The Gravely gets in most of the places where I used the push mow. I plan on taking it to a few friends houses to let them try it out. They have spent almost the same money on a riding mower that isnt near as good as the Gravely. May 25, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by WOW, cuts mowing time in half and less time weed eating too! I went to several lawn mower places comparing prices, cutting width and so on. I was about to buy a John Deer when Nathan at my local Gravely dealer suggested I take a test ride on both mowers. That's all it took to convince me, I'm now the proud owner of a Gravely Zero turn mower. It takes a little practice to get the hang of steering a zero turn mower but once you do, look out grass, your going down. Saves loads of time mowing and because you can cut so close, it cuts your weed eating time too. It makes cutting the grass fun again. March 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by The BEST mower for the price I purchased the ZT42 after doing a lot of research and test drives on other models. The fact that a 42" mower has a 3-blade set up is amazing. It gives the best cut I have ever had on my lawn. I mow just over an acre and it cut my mowing time literally in half. It's quiet, easy to start, doesn't leave clumps, and NEVER bogs down with it's 22 HP Kawasaki engine. If you've never used a ZT before you will need to take it slow to get the hang of it and keep from tearing up your turf. But after a couple of times mowing it becomes second nature. The mower will mow at the full speed without ever bogging down, even after 2 weeks of not cutting the grass because of heavy rains. I am DEFINITELY a Gravely believer now. HIGHLY recommend this mower. July 18, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 Excellent ride and cut I came from a 12 year old 28" Snapper(Ibought new) to a 2010 ZT50 I purchased in January a left over model but new. I was going to purchase a ZT42 and Mike at A&M in Ellisville, MO talked me into for a little more money the ZT50 with the Kawasaki 22HP instead of the 42" with Briggs. It was the best choice, I have looked for the past two years at other brands but felt Gravely was the best in the residential mower since I could not justify the pricey commercial grade mowers since only cut my yard. Cut time went from almost two hours down to 50 minutes, I love it, rides great, excellent seat and the cut is professional looking. Seams easy to clean and work on although have not had to, I have 15 hours on it. Did not come with hour meter so purchased one and installed as I want to see how many years/hours I can get out of this mower, hopefully 20 years and if so will buy another Gravely!!! June 1, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best I could find in my price range I did months of internet research and decided upon the ZT 34. I needed something that would fit through my current shed doorway, so I picked the 34" cut, but I was surprised that the cutting swath was barely different from my previous Craftsman 42" lawn tractor. Also, the Gravely had the biggest engine in its class. The ZT 34 is a noticeably well built machine. The seat is comfortable and the controls are positive and easly to manipulate. Plus the cutting blades give a very consistent, even, level cut - something I had a hard time doing with my Craftsman. Very efficient clipping pickup system with the bagger. And the whole machine looks good, too.The only thing more I could ask for would be an hour gauge, but that certainly wasn't a deal breaker. No, I'm very happy with the Gravely! June 1, 2011

Why Zero-turn?

WHY CHOOSE A ZERO TURN?

ZERO TURN TIME SAVINGS

You can cut your mowing time in half using a zero turn mower instead of a traditional riding lawn tractor. Here are some of the time-saving features of zero turn technology:

Maneuver Around Obstacles

The maneuverability of zero turn mowers allows you to easily mow around trees, flower beds and other obstacles in your yard more easily than with a steering wheel vehicle such as a riding lawn tractor.

Drive at a Faster Speed

Zero turn mowers are designed to cut grass nearly twice as fast as traditional lawn tractors so your straight line mowing speed is improved. A typical lawn tractor cuts at a speed of 3-4 mph while a typical zero turn mower cuts at a speed of 5-8 mph.

Mow in a Single Pass

When you get to the end of your yard and have to turn around and come back, you literally can spin 180 degrees and come straight back without having to back up and cut the strips of grass you would miss when making the turn with a lawn tractor.

Eliminate Follow-Up Trimming

With an unobstructed view of the cutting deck, zero turn mowers make it easy to cut very close to your trim edges – you can nearly eliminate the need to trim hard-to-reach areas with a push mower or a string trimmer after you've finished mowing.

EASY AND ENJOYABLE TO DRIVE

Without a steering wheel, a zero turn machine may look intimidating to drive but most people become comfortable with the way it handles after just a few times mowing their lawn.

Steering a zero turn mower is easy. In fact, it is not that different from steering a shopping cart.

  • How to make left turn with Zero Turn
  • How to make right turn with Zero Turn

  • Forward: Push the handles forward.
  • Reverse: Pull the handles back.
  • Right Turn: Push the left handle forward.
  • Left Turn: Push the right handle forward.
  • Stop: Bring the handles back to neutral.

The key to driving in a straight line is to assure that the same amount of pressure is applied to each lever.
