Have my Gravely Z48 for about a year now, and I have to say. It's a much improved version of the one I had 6 years ago. Solid as a Rock, and Built like a Tank. I use it as my main mower for my Lawn Service Co, and I can depend on it. The belts, spindles and motor are very reliable, and the frame is super strong. The deck has a lifetime Warranty. Can't beat that!! It's strong. I like the wide gas tank caps also. The tires are good, and beefy. Also the Digital Hours Meter reminds you when to change your oil, and service your Air Filter. A no Brainer. Overall great mower for the money. A good reason why I stick with Gravely Professional Series Mowers, is that they are very dependable. That's what you need when you run a Lawn Service Co. Dependability from your equipment. I highly recommend it.

Twice required service to replace deck bearings covered under warranty. Described as "maintenance free" type bearings that have no grease zert. I would rather have a better quality bearing that requires a shot of grease a couple times per year. My 22 year-old John Deere has that and still has the same bearings working perfectly. More than likely a production cost saving measure as opposed to the reality of it not being maintenance free. Other than that, the machine has been very good. we keep it well maintained and I expect many years from it - if we can keep the bearings in the deck from shelling out every few months!

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 100 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 148):
I have approximately 10 acres that I mow each week. For several years I mowed with a finish mower attached to my tractor. Since purchasing my Gravely zero turn mower, I turned my mowing time from 6 hours each week to just under 3. My Gravely mower also has a floating seat that makes for a smooth ride, also eliminating some of the back issues I once had as a result of the hours spent on the tractor seat.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This product performs better than I anticipated.
from Laurens, SC
I always wanted the zero turn mower and was in Wynn's looking around. They had a great sale going on and I test drove several different models/makers. The Gravely was the best of the lot and I took it home that day. Since that time I have used on a weekly basis and the performance is high rated, time efficient and smooth cut every time. I am glad I invested in Gravely and now I wonder why I waited so long.

Excellent product at a great cost
from West Monroe, LA
I got the gravely at a recommendation of my future father in law and it is well designed with great durability. One of the nicest features is the fuel injection. I will hopefully never have to deal with fuel issues like the carburetor engines. This thing cranks quickly every time and the engine is plenty powerful. The deck has a lifetime warranty and is built like a tank. I never have to worry about going out and having issue with it. I just mow and go on about my day.
No grease fittings
from Crosby, TX
This machine needs grease fittings EVERYWHERE. I have had it less than a year and it has been back to shop 3 times for new spindles. When I bought it Salesman told me it had sealed bearings and did not need grease fittings. Repair man told me it neded a dozen or more as he replaced my spindles!!! for the second time.
Love my Gravely

Strong and durable machine
from Luverne, Alabama
My Pro Turn Commercial zero turn mower is very strong has performed well and has reduced my mowing time. My only issue with the mower is that it scars my lawn when making a turn. I raised the wheels on the deck but still get scaring from rear wheels. I can slow down in turns which helps but that defeats one of the purposes of buying the mower which is its speed. Overall it's a great machine but I was disappointed and surprised about the scaring of my lawn.
Best mower I have owned (I'm 67)
The grass looks great and I've cut mowing time from 4 1/2 hours to about 2 hours. Old mower was 56" cut. I mow 5 acres with a lot of landscaping and the Gravely does it very efficiently. This is old pasture land so I really appreciate the air seat (and the seat belt)!
Purchased a Gravely Pro-Turn 148 after looking at quite a few other brands. The Gravely was chosen for its overall build strength, simplicity, cutter deck design and the dealers ability to get the unit prepared and delivered on time .The cutter deck and blades are manufactured to last well beyond the life expectancy of some of the other cutter decks around, and the safety features fitted make the unit top machine.
The absalute best
This has been the absolute best mower I have ever owned. I only cut about 2.5 acres every week, but have yet to change blades and it still cuts like the day a got it.

Great mower but very little tech info available to...
Have enjoyed the mower but when a problem occurred i was unable to locate information. The mower stopped like it was out of gas. Did my best to troubleshoot. Could not locate any troubleshooting information in manuals i received. Could not load into trailer because of hydraulics. Went to the dealer to seek manuals but there are none for the consumers. Asked about disabling the hydraulics to load into trailer and after 1/2 hour was shown how. Could not locate bypass levers with owners manual. Finally found through trial and error and searching that a fuse was blown. Owner manual has no location of fuses. If i would have known this information when i made the decision to purchase it, I would have probably passed on the unit.

THE BEST MOWER I HAVE HAD. I OWNED JOHN DEERE @ EXMARK GRAVELY 152 IS MY PICK
from Plaquemine, LA
Owned my gravely for a year now, and it still performs like new.
Good performance and durability
Goes around trees and flowerbeds with ease. Very please with the striping kit that you can get for it.
Location of features.
This is the 2nd Gravely I have bought and only have a complaint about the location of 2 features. The placing of the PTO switch is closer to the arm rest, so in an emergency the armrest can get in the way of a quick shut off. Second, the deck lift petal is too far away and is hard to lift for even a 6' tall person. And one more thing, the mower doesn't mow as evenly on 3.5" cuts and higher as my old Gravely. Other than that the machine is great.
Love the comfort and power!
from Gurnee, IL
I bought the 152 model with a Kawasaki engine. This thing moves as fast as the go karts I used to own as a child. I set the cutting height to 3.75" because I have an extremely thick, green, and plush lawn. I have a 1 acre lot. I will remove the about an inch when I cut and I do engage the engine speed full throttle and it cuts like a charm. I absolutely love the shock absorbers under the seat . I wear the seat belt tightly as I find it helps prevent bouncing of my body if I am going across bumpy areas. The handling is superb and I have mastered how to make a three zero-point turn at stand still without burning grass. It is SO easy with the mower. The parts are made USA rock solid.
Not Quite as Good as It Used to Be
from Garner, NC
I have had several 152s since 2008. Just like my review of my 200 series mowers, the 152 has things they've done better and things they have gone backwards on.My oldest 152 was bought in 2008. I'd easily give that mower a 9 out of 10. Its only issue was no 1/4" increments on deck heights. I had always said it was one of the best "all purpose" mowers out there. You could do larger commercial properties but it also did really well on small residential lots. It was a very, very good all around mower. This latest 152 is still good. Of course, they all seem to have 1/4" adjustments now. But one thing that has been very annoying is the poor traction at the rear; especially the right rear tire.My new 152 has slightly narrower rear tires. One would assume that might get more bite since the weight per square inch on the contact patch is greater. Back its almost silly how much that rear tire spins; primarily when backing up.All zero-turns suffer from poor rear traction when backing. But this 152 is pathetic. Everything else about it is really good. Maybe there's a logical reason they changed the weight ratio front to rear and why they changed the tires. But whatever the reason, it was a huge step backwards. I HATE leaving spin marks in a customer's yard. But sometimes there's no way around it with this mower. This seems like a petty thing to judge a machine on but since it was so good in the past and SO bad now, I had to mention it.
Pro Turn 152
Really like the mower. However, I wish the seat had more cushion like some of the competitors have on their commerical grade mowers. I slso wish it had a smoother ride.

This is my second Gravely. My first was a Pro Master 50. It had over 3300 hours on it. The gage broke at 3300, and still mowing good. I purchased the 160 Z with a 60 deck and had lights installed and I chose to have the mulch kit put on. The cut is absolutly perfect, the only scalping I see is from me turning to fast and hard. You need to take the time to set up the mower for your comfort, like the seat, the steering control bars. once you do just sit back and enjoy the ride. It was a real pleasure to mow my 2 acres with it, and I mean WAS! My wife wanted to help one day, she liked it so much, now she does all the mowing and works on her tan, and I only get to do the edgeing and weed trimming. After 1 year of use, I have no complaints at all with my purchase of the 160Z. The only thing Gravely needs to offer as an option is Air Conditioning, I live in South central Florida.
This product could use a suspension system.

I have a Gravely 160 ProTurn commercial grade I purchased on July 22, 2010 from Horizon Outdoor, St. Joseph, MO. I mow 5 acres with it and it has proven very reliable. The only fault I find with it is the seat suspension does not seem to give a very good ride no matter where it is adjusted to. (I weigh 250 lbs). I feel this mower would be better if it had some sort of suspension on the mower itself. With my bad back and this bone jarring ride I would think you could come up with a better system than just an adjustable seat. Also it has a terrible habit of scalping on uneven areas no matter where the deck height is set. This mower would be better if it had a pivoting front axel instead of hard mounted front wheels.

Well built machine that saves mega time. The only area for improvement that I see is the foot mechanism to raise the deck is a little awkward / a little heavy.
Living up to the name
from Clarksville TN
Gravely has always stood for tough overbuilt equipment. My dad had a gravely in the 1970's and that thing was a beast. It had to be to stand up to my three brothers and myself. So when I went to buy a new mower I went with a brand that I trusted. So far it is living up to the name. I have zero compliants with the ProTurn 160. I have been using it all season and love the cut and performance of this machine.
Worth the money spent
Traded in our old 1864 cub cadet for a pro turn 160 with the F/I Briggs. My wife and I love the gravely so much that we both want to mow! I now mow 2 1/2 acres twice as fast as when I mowed with the old rider. Should've bought a zero turn along time ago, nice to also have the 48 months zero percent financing. We'll made product, saw the ferris with the independent suspension, wasn't really sold on the idea since no other manufacturer offers it. Plus the ferris doesn't look "solid" to me, looks cheap. Totally satisfied with our purchase. At first I was going to purchase the pro turn 60, because of the great price for being a commercial mower for 6k. but Keith at Smith Welding in Warrensburg, MO sold us on the 100 series with the F/I. If anyone misses the way customer service used to be, they still have it at Smith Welding! Such a nice group there. Even though we paid 2k more for the 100 series, its definitely worth it with for the suspension seat, heavier deck, fuel injection and bigger tires. We love our new gravely.
Pro Turn 160 Great Value
from Magnolia, TX
We use the mower to cut 7.5 acres of the church's Bahia grass lawn and it is a great machine to ride and operate. There are 6 two people teams that take care of the yard and each operator loves to drive it. The adjustable seat is a great feature for small and large people. The Bahia grass is hard on blades but when they are sharp you feel like you are flying over the ground. I have high lift blades with carbide tips and can get about 6 cuts out of them before sharpening. The 60" deck chews through the grass and makes short work of large areas. The discharge blade has a cogged belt to help throw the clippings. The blade belts can be easily inspected by lifting the floor plate. The Kawasaki motor goes easy on the gas and has plenty of power to cut the Bahia. There is a small area of St. Augustine grass and the difference in cutting speed is amazing.Changing the oil is reason I gave it four stars on features and designs. The engine drain and filter are tight but accessible. The transmission filters are real tight and you must have a small filter wrench to service them. The mower is relatively quiet and many of us like to plug in earphones and then put on hearing protection muffs on top of the plugs. You can listen to music very comfortably. The longest I have been on the mower is six hours but for our use this is an excellent machine.
from Jay, Maine
I bought this for my home. I also own 2 other 60" Gravely mowers for part of my business. I wish this model came with the hydraulic deck. I wish this one came with that option. I am short and I can not have the seat up far enough to rest my feet on the foot rest and still pull back an go in reverse since the arms hit the arm rests on both sides. Thus, I just ride with the seat back and it works fine that way.Other than these two things my machine is awesome. As I said I own 3 Gravely's and only would buy another Gravely. Your machines are built well and very tough. I have had NO issues with anything on all my machines and I work them hard. Thanks for making a well built machine to give years of service.

this is my 7th gravley.i have owned grasshopper badboy and exmark. i have run dixi choper andjohn deer . gravley is by far the best.
This is the best mower I have ever owned. I have five acres to mow and I went from mowing for 3+ hours to under 2 hours to mow the property. Dual gas tanks are great and the mower is easy to maintain. Compared to other mowers I've owned, very little grass clippings accumulate under the cutting deck. Nice wide tires are gentle on the turf and the seat springs make for a comfortable ride. This mower is lightning fast and delivers a great cut. The best part is that my wife will now volunteer to cut the grass which would never have happened before this purchase. I paid around $7400 for this machine, but with 0% financing the payments are no problem. I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone who is tired of spending a lot of their time cutting their lawn. I joke that this mower has made me a better father by giving me many more hours to spend with my kids, but I guess it's really not a joke. If you are on the fence, buy this machine today. Your wife and kids will thank you.

My pro-turn 152 is the best mower I've ever owned and cut my mowing time down almost in half.
This is a good product
This is only my second ztr I have own, it took me a day or two to get used to it, upgrading from a residential to a comercial. Its a big difference in the grade of equipment. After having it for two months now, hands down its my best bang for the buck. I am very happy with it and when its time to upgrade it will be another gravely.
from east otto
this machine has work with no problem, the only draw back is in the raising of the deck, it should be a lot easier to lift the deck than the present design
Now is a great time to buy new Gravely commercial landscaping equipment. Professionals who work all day, every day count on The American Workhorse. You can too!
