I shopped every brand and every make of zero-turn mower there is available in my area, and I kept coming back to the gravely for a few very important reasons for me. First, the Kawasaki engine was a must for me. My previous mower has a Kawasaki mower that has run great for 20 years. Second, the mower deck was at least as good as any on the market if not better. And maybe the most important, the cockpit. I had trouble finding a mower that gave me enough room to maneuver comfortably. The seat is very comfortable with the suspension seat. And the price was very competitive. As you can see, I'm very happy with my Gravely. I don't mind be envied for having the best mower on the block.

I just bought a ProTurn 252 mower - I am amazed and disappointed that this unit does not have a fuel gauge. Pretty disappointing for a homeowner. For as much money as I just spent, it would have been nice if there was a fuel gauge.

I have had Gravely equipment for 35 years and this is truly a disappointment. After speaking with Ariens technical support, I learned that there appears to be no after market option for a fuel gauge.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 252):

Overall I looked low and high and Gravely for the money is the best I could find. Solid build construcrion , nice comfort (I'm 6'4 260 lbs and I love the room). I purchase the proturn 252 with the Kawasaki (FX 730v) motor and it had plenty of power for the machine. Overall happy with the purchase. Inwoild rate it five stars but nothing is perfect. I would love the trailer hitch and canopy for the unit..... Hint hint hint ..... Lol.

If you are shoping around just stop and work a deal with your local gravely dealer.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 252):

I have been running gravely mowers for many years and LOVE the performance and QUALITY built in the machines. My 250Z mower is still running strong with only changing my main drive belt in 6 years. (It has 1100 hrs and still going strong with a KAWASAKI ENGINE) Now thats QUALITY BUILT. Never had to bring the mower back to the shop for any type of factory repair not to say it will not happen because we are all human and we do make mistakes. Now i have a pro turn 252Z and its a mowing beast. I have cut commercial and now i have retired, so i bought another brand new mower that will last me till the end of my time.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 252):

I own a Pro Turn 252 and i run my Lawn Care business with it here in Sunny South Carolina. I have owned Scag mowers in the past for almost 8 years (and would never have bought anything else) and stopped by my local Gravely dealer about a year ago and bought my new pro turn 252 with the 26 HP Kawi. I love this machine !!! This mower is super comfortable, quick, and cuts anything in its path with ease. My local dealer here in upstate SC has been awesome as well. Im glad to be part of the Gravely family and i plan on buying another mower to add to my fleet this summer. I think im going to look into the new pro turn 400 !!!! Anyone out there looking for a great quality machine ????? You better get to your local Gravely dealer and try one out today for yourself....you will not be disappointed

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 252):

I had a John Deere that had worn out. It took me 4.5 hours to mow my own yard without doing any weed eating. I looked at everything I could find to demo and decided on the Gravely ProTurn 252. I could not believe that my mowing time went from 4.5 hours to 1.4 hours. It was the nicest ride and the best looking cut of any that I tried out. I love it.

I have a lawn mowing service(Bock's Lawn Care) and we have been using Gravely now for about eight years. It has truly proven itself time and time again. We have three Pro-Turn 200 Series mowers and a Gravely walk behind. The mowers can do everything we throw at them. Gravely has given me piece of mind knowing that I have a quality piece of equipment that I can depend on day in and day out.

This zero turn is fast and powerful plus durable. Cuts great maneuvers well plus very comfortable for a guy that's 6'1 to operate sitting on the suspension seat. Plenty of operating room you can just recline and enjoy mowing. No regrets with this being my first zero turn. Highly recommend this zero turn.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 260):

Deck stays clean underneath. Easy to use leaf blower to clean top. Changed engine oil and hydraulic myself per schedule; straightforward. Seat is a miracle; it's so comfortable. The padded control arms prevent hand and wrist aches. Compact size fits behind the car in the garage. Dealer in Hockessin, DE, gave very good instructions including how to gauge and set belt tightness, reading the timer, recommended fuel additives, cutting speeds for best results, seat adjustments, and steering suggestions. Very pleasant purchase experience. Manuals for mower and engine are clear and well illustrated. Draining the hydraulic systems was even easier than the manual indicated. There were clear instructions for refilling then purging the systems.

Bought this to replace a Gravely Pro-master 260 that I had had for several hours and was dew a upgrade. I was going to get another Pro-master and I started checking revies and info on the Pro-turn, I was worried about the hydro gear tranny's vs the seperate pump and wheel motor, but after a few lawns I was well satisfied, the hydro gear is alot smoother plus less maintenance. I would recommend a Pr-turn to any one. From a very satisfied Gravely customer, also you can not beat my local dealer!!!! Greensboro Nc,

      Positives and Negatives

      By

      from Garner, NC

      Site Member

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 260):

I've been using Gravelys since 2008. I'm a solo owner but my sons help me out quite a bit. I usually have three or four mowers and earlier this year, sold two 2008 Gravelys and bought three more: two 260s and a 152.

Its obvious the new 260s have been redesigned. Here are things I like.

The deck height adjustment works well. I like now being able to do 1/4" adjustments and going to the straight bars versus the chains is an improvement. Eliminating the front axle being adjustable seems to be an improvement and the mower feels more stable. The Hydro-Gear ZT5400 is amazing. All three of my mowers have the usual Kawasakis I order with them but for some reason, these three don't run as well as others in the past. I've heard other people say they've had issues with recent Kawasakis. Maybe I'll try a Kohler next time.

The negatives. I think the X-Factor deck has taken a step backwards. It seems to clog up more underneath and who in the world decided to have those adjustable baffles added to the deck? The deck seems to cut better with the baffles removed entirely. But if you leave them on, it does best with the baffles as low as they can go. Unfortunately, when the baffles are that low, they tend to catch on trailers as you back them off. I have had several instances where I was backing the mower down and the baffle snags the frame on the floor of my trailer. This is just one of those things where "real world" testing would have shown Gravely this was a mistake.

All in all, I'm still happy with my purchase. But for the first time since I've owned Gravelys, I'll probably demo other brands the next time I buy a new mower. I'm not saying I'll switch. But I'll at least try other brands out there.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 260):

I've been in the lawn care maintenance business for over 21 years - starting with a gravely promaster, later upgrading to the zero turn P260Z. Ive tried alot of competitors mowers out and always end up ordering a new Gravely. Other than blades & the odd belt i've replaced a clutch, one pulley & one spindle on a machine years ago and we run them all day, everyday, all season. Down time isnt an option in this business and so far hands down Gravely is the front runner for commercial mowers.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 260):

Coming from a Ferris ProCut 60 to the 260 was a pleasure. Definately impressed with the construction. Definately impressed with the performance. A few little quirks thats easily ironed out, would make this unit absolutely perfect. First, to put the oil drain line down thru the chassis to eliminate the chance of making a mess. Second, provide an oil catch pan for oil filter removal. Third, I seem to bang my right elbow on the ROPS when getting in and starting the unit. And lastly, if the control arms were fore/aft adjustable for individuals with large bellys (Politically correct?) it would be great. The floatation on wet ground is outstanding. I know I easily went thru places I would have needed to be towed out of with the Ferris 3 wheeler. Heavy thick wet grass was no issue. Knock it back to 9-10mph and it blows right thru it. For the MINOR inconveniences listed above, they are insignificant when you try to wipe the grin off your face after running this machine for an hour!

We are a church and have about 9 acres to mow each week. Our old mower, which we still have, is a Allis Chambers farm tractor with a Woods mower. We kept that tractor so that two people could tackle the job at the same time. We have quickly discovered that no one uses the tractor because it is way to slow. What use to take 12 hours plus now takes us about 3 hours. We have several people who use the mower and although the steering system is quite different than other mowers and most vehicles, we have found that people new to the steering system quickly catch on are able to maneuver it quite well.

I have had my gravely pro-turn 260 with a Kawasaki 27 hp engine for two years I have put 600 hours on it and haven't had to do anything to it except replace the battery and blades (of course) and change the fluids. Gravely out did theirselves on this machine! I've never even replaced a belt. It will tackle just about any hill. The wide tires are perfect for any type of lawn very gentle on the turf. Very smooth ride compared to my pro master 152 Also. The only complaint I have about the mower is the fuel consumption but the time you save with it is worth the extra gas.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 272):

I have been using the mower for 2 months now and I am very impressed with the power and cut quality. I have cut my mowing time in half. The only problem is the build-up of grass under the deck. I have to scrape it out every time I mow or it get so thick the blades drag on it. I am sure this is a problem with all mowers.

I purchased a bagger with the mower and I feel it drags down the performance of the mower so I took it off. Having a hard time selling the bagger seems very few people use them.

Had a 100 series that ran perfectly for 8 years but wanted to upgrade. The 200 has more power and feels better if that's possible while keeping the same user friendly features I have loved on the previous model. Good low center of gravity makes the mower feel safer.

This is my first zero turn and I use it to mow twelve acres of pasture. I like how fast it is and how consistent the cut is. I can only really complain about when switching from forward to reverse it tends to choke down.

Comments about Gravely Pro-Turn 200 XDZ Zero Turn Mower (Model 272):

This is my first ZTR and I am very pleased with its performance, size, and power. I mow a 10 plus acre lawn and must have a mower that is comfortable, powerful and as fun to use as possible and this mower fits the bill. I used to use a 72 inch finishing mower pulled by a Kubota tractor but now I use this Gravely only. The 13 gallon capacity gas tanks are nice. The seat is the most comfortable I have on any of my equipment. Grass cutting height is precise and fairly easy to use although it requires a strong leg to raise the deck using the adjustment petal. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 250# but this mower is comfortable.
I recommend this well built USA made mower.
